It was a very good dictionary. It contains many signs, and has many of the related signs connected on their entries. For new learners the signs can be a little hard to follow if you have no understanding of ASL handshapes and general movements. But otherwise, it is without complaints in that department. I was able to follow and understand all the signs perfectly with no complaints. But to test it's clarity I have given it to people with no explanation or background in ASL, told them to choose a sign, and I'd guess what it was. About 50% of the time they would sign it correctly, 40% of the time they would sign it and I would still be able to guess what they were signing, and the last 10% I had to ask them what they were trying to say.My only con would be that there are signs/words missing. Of course, it's impossible to fit all the sings/words into a single book, and it would also be an exhaustive work for any illustrator.
Loads of information; however, the print is so small I can't read it, even with a magnifying glass. Will have to pay to take it to Kinko's to shave off the rib and enlarge all the pages back-to-back, hole punch and put in a ring binder. Will cost a lot more than the dictionary did.
A dictionary of sign language, so the above listed factors not terribly relevant!! problem is the size of the font used. Better than the smaller version - but still most will require good lighting or a magnifying glass to read. Much prefer the now out of print??? Dictionary, not this Concise version. Still better than nothing - easy to carry around. Seems to offer ASL not 'pidgeon English'. Cheap at the price offered, but definitely a 'concise' dictionary.
Has a lot of signs in it but the print is really miniscule and hard to read.
This dictionary has a good concise introduction and lots of general and slang terms used. However, it would be very hard for people to read with even slight visual problems since the print is so tiny. The words in bold and descriptions of terms are good, but some are a little difficult for people to understand without any background in sign language. I would recommend this book for those who just need a quick reference to most words in general use because it is light and therefore easy to carry around, but have another book with larger print for sight impaired people.

I really wanted to learn Sign Language so I got this book, it is a little hard to understand and all of the information and the way the book is set up can be a bit overwhelming, but it does it's job. Also, my book came a little damaged, but nothing to bad.I would recommend this for advance learners.
Bought this for my niece and she loves it.
